Welcome to the South Shore Wheelers May Newsletter!
With the nicer weather just about upon us, we are getting into camping season which means lots of fun and multiple days of wheeling over weekends.
Before we get into May events, we want to thank everyone that came out to our Earth Day cleanup on April 14th. As we learned after the cleanup, the area that we were at is currently under a lot of discussion with residents and the town due to illegal dumping and other illegal activity. Having groups like NEA clubs go there and clean up will hopefully demonstrate that our sport can be done in responsible way. We cannot control the illegal behavior of people that go to these locations but hopefully we can build a good relationship with the local residents and possibly help them monitor for this type of behavior. At a minimum, we are at least bringing in the big guns to get rid of the trash that is being dumped there. Pics from the cleanup can be found here
NEA Meeting – May 5
The next NEA meeting is scheduled for May 5 in Rhode Island. A representative from SSW will be in attendance.
Meet and Greet – May 10
Our next M&G is scheduled for Thursday, May 10 at Red Robin in Foxboro. Stop by and meet some SSW folks and show off your rig. Details and signups can be found here
Wheeling – May 19 and 20
Our first camping and wheeling trip of the year! This is one of SSW’s favorite spots to go which includes wheeling on both Saturday and Sunday and night wheeling for those interested. The trail has moderate to extreme trails so it offers a great range for people with slightly modified rigs to highly modified rigs. There are also class VI roads nearby so additional wheeling opportunities and difficulties are available depending on the turnout. Members can wheel both or just one day if you are unable to camp. Details and sign-up is located at
Go Topless Day – May 19
All Things Jeep will be hosting a Go Topless Day on May 19. Details can be found here
Hope to see some of you at the above events.
